Watch Masterclass at Chrono: Arrived in Smartwatches, Left in Love with Mechanics
On October 29, the Bizcon Group team hosted a masterclass at the Chrono boutique for watch enthusiasts and newcomers alike.Five centuries in one evening
The story began in the 16th century. John Calvin banned luxury and jewellery in Geneva. Jewellers turned their skills to watchmaking. A ban became the starting point of an entire industry.
Guests then learned about the quartz crisis of the 1970s. Cheap quartz watches nearly destroyed Swiss watchmaking. Nicolas Hayek revived the industry and restored the value of mechanical watches.

Real or fake?
A separate session covered counterfeits: their types, and why buying from an official dealer matters. Guests were given two Rolex watches, one original and one fake, and asked to spot the difference. It proved harder than expected.

Brand stories
Special attention went to NORQAIN. The brand supports communities in Nepal. Its ultra-light straps are made from recycled ocean waste.
Guests also discovered the stories of Aerowatch, Armand Nicolet, Delbana, Swiss Military, Cover and Rapport.

The result
Most guests arrived wearing smartwatches. By the end of the evening, their perspective had changed. A mechanical watch became more than an accessory. It became a work of art and an expression of personality. Two guests purchased their first mechanical watches that same evening.
Why we do it
One of Bizcon Group’s missions is to develop watch culture in Uzbekistan. That is why these events take place regularly.
The event was supported by the Soat Uyushmasi Watch Association, co-founded by Bizcon Group. Together with the association, we created the first book on Swiss watches in Russian in the CIS.
Stay tuned for upcoming masterclasses. Visit us at Chrono: 28 Pakhlavon Makhmud passage, Yashnabad district, Tashkent.
